Day Three - Issos Beach to Agios Mattheos

This is our last day in the south of the island and what a surprise. The sandy beach at Issos is made for sport: windsurfing and swimming. The walk along the sandbar between Korission Lake and the sea is through juniper woods with a multitude of flowers.

North of the lake is the 13thC Gardiki fort. The Trail walks around the 470m high Agios Mattheos mountain with its monastery and fantastic view, which we visit at the end of the day. We pass through ancient olive groves between secluded bays and the mountain.
