Day Eight - Agros to Spartilas
This is the Corfu that tourists pass through but never see. We start on the main road to Sidari, visit the villages of Horoepiskopi, where Lear painted, Valanio and Sokraki. The olive groves along our route are old and well-tended. The fruit is harvested over winter. In the spring, black nets lie under the majestic trees.
We end our six-hour walk at Spartilas where, in 417BC, the Oligarchs made their refuge in the Civil War at the start of the Peloponessian Wars. They could see the Democrats, the winners, in Corfu Town.
